On the outskirts of Nakuru lies a truly remarkable national park which has achieved international fame as an animal sanctuary. Both Black and White Rhinos are being given a new lease of live in this 188 sq. km fully electrically fenced park and they are carefully protected. The present rhino population is fifty three and they continue to multiply.
The Acacia and Euphorbia Forest are havens for the animals during the heat of the day. Cormorant corner is aptly named as is pelican point. The Hippo pool at the Baharini springs is a favorite spot for picnics. In the center of the park, never far from view, sits the glittering 40 sq. km. lake with its large population of lesser and Greater Flamingos and pelicans which, on their own right, attract visitors from all over the world.
