Arrive Loisaba Wilderness Loisaba Lodge. Enjoy tennis, swimming or even a horse ride through the bush. After lunch just relax or pamper yourself in our tranquil spa with a massage. Late afternoon game drive, exploring vast tracts of unspoilt areas in our private wilderness, observe the wildlife and take in the dramatic scenery.
After an early breakfast walk from the Lodge into the valley taking in the panoramic views and if you are lucky – observe the shy Greater Kudu browsing on the slopes. Other animal encounters may include Giraffe, Impala, Cheetah and Elephant – to name a few. Finally down to the Starbeds where your hosts are Samburu Warriors, clad in traditional regalia, who will serve you a sumptuous lunch. Relax after lunch and when the afternoon heat gives way to the coolness of the African evening, head out for a drive on the plains tracking big mane lions and other game. Return early evening to a roaring camp fire and dinner by candle light, before retiring to your platform for blissful sleep under the canopy of the African sky.
After an early morning breakfast perhaps head across to the other starbeds on foot, on camels or by 4 wheel drive while the morning is still cool, follow the evening tracks and signs left by the wildlife, still fresh in the soft earth, catch the brilliant colours of birdlife feeding from the trees, the busy insects flitting from plant to plant, time is of no essence. Enjoy cool drinks under the shade of a gnarled acacia tree. Guests can choose to walk, trek with camels or raft along the meandering river.
From the Starbeds after an early breakfast the Samburu Warriors prepare their camel train. A short 2 ½ hour trek following the river takes us through this stunning terrain up and over gentle hills down to Sabuk lodge perched on the escarpment cliffs overlooking the tumbling river below. Here you can relax, swim in the river or take another short walk with your guide exploring the nearby riverines, hills and gullies. Return to the lodge for sundowners and a candlelit dinner.
One of these days will be spent walking and or riding with camels, returning at dusk to a fully hosted fly camp set along the dramatic gorges of the Ewaso Nyiro river. The trek is easy and good for inquisitive family groups wishing to learn more about bush craft and its natural inhabitants at close quarters. The other day will be spent at the lodge exploring the hills nearby for wildlife on foot, perhaps spending a leisurely afternoon swimming in the cool waters of the river below the lodge.
After breakfast transfer to the airstrip to be collected for your onward arrangements.
