Kongoni Lodge

discover Kongoni Lodge

Kongoni Lodge Naivasha is located in a private park called Kongoni Ranch. The name “Kongoni” comes from a species of antelope present in the area. The ranch is located in the central part of Kenya, some 120 km northwest of Nairobi.

Kongoni Ranch includes about 1000 acres of savannah, a beautiful garden, stables, and a holding, whose focal point is a century old farm, once belonging to Margaret Countess De Périgny and her beloved husband, Roger. Their tombs, made of white stones and placed in the central part of the garden, are today a visible reminder of the former owners.

The farm is situated on a volcanic shelf, elevated high above the Naivasha Lake, which results in its garden being a natural viewing terrace. Its view takes your breath away. A wide belt of African acacia, beyond which gleams the flat surface of the lake, provides the basis for a panorama of extinct volcanic cones.

  • Boat trips on Lake Naivasha, where one can photograph hippo and wide range of birds
  • Play a round of 18 holes of golf at Green Park, with stunning views over Lake Naivasha
  • Hiking, game drives and a mountain bike trek in Hells Gate National Park is a favorite activity
  • Visit Crater Lake, a vivid green lake that formed some 30 million years ago in the caldera of a now extinct volcano. This is a peaceful, remote spot with lovely views and hiking possibilities
  • Elsamere is the former home of Joy Adamson of "Born Free" is now a residential conservation Centre, with a library, memorial room and gift shop. You can enjoy traditional tea or lunch on the lawn under huge old acacia trees, and are invited to watch the film "The Joy Adamson Story"
  • Just outside of Hell's Gate National Park, Mount Longonot is an impressive dormant volcano that last erupted in the 1860s. A five-hour hike encircling the crater is a possibility for the more active guests
