Amboseli is best known for its unrivalled views of Kilimanjaro and the local elephant population. There are over 1000 elephants in the parks eco-system, featuring some of the largest in Africa.
Tortilis Camp is named after the flat-topped, umbrella thorn tree, the Acacia Tortilis, and is situated in one of Amboseli’s pristine areas of Acacia Tortilis woodland, with the majestic backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, and the World’s highest free-standing mountain, snow-capped Kilimanjaro. Tortilis has the undeveloped western half of Amboseli to itself. Game drives, walks, sundowners and bush meals take place both inside the park, and within a private 30,000 acre game concession.
The tents are all large and spacious, with king or twin beds, elegant ensuite bathrooms. There is a main lounge, bar and dining area, all exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs, with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro.
Beautiful beach - Lie on the beach, relax, time isn't important in this island. Forget about time while enjoying the warm waters of the Indian Ocean whilst having a cold drink in the drift wood hippy bar, the Robinson Crusoe, on the beach.
Swimming pool - The irresistible swimming-pool at which, for the first time in the history of this islet, fresh water is reaching by a pipeline from Zanzibar mainland, is provided with service from the charming Bar (capacity: 35 covers).
Boat rides & relaxing, pumping yourself with a massage and a delicious cocktail. Relax; forget about the madness of the day to day life. That is the main activity at Bawe tropical Island.
