A safari that takes you to the plains below Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain, then to the northern frontier and a visit to the world famous bird sanctuaries of Lake Baringo, Bogoria and Nakuru, then south over the Mau Escarpment to the Kenya’s greatest concentration of game-the 7th Wonder – Maasai Mara

Day 1 – Nairobi/Amboseli

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive to Amboseli Park via Namanga on the Tanzania border to arrive in the afternoon, view game enroute to the campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 – Amboseli

Day spent exploring this park with the magnificent snow capped Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background. The waters from melted snow drain down the mountain under lava flows and surface on the Amboseli plains, creating a green belt of swampland amidst dusty plains. Here elephant, buffalo, lion, cheetah, wildebeest, hyena, jackal, zebra and the Maasai giraffe are likely to be seen. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.

Day 3–Amboseli/ Mt. Kenya

After breakfast, proceed to Mt Kenya region with lunch enroute. Late afternoon walk to the Maumau Caves. Dinner and overnight at Mountain Rock Campsite.

Day 4 – Mt. Kenya/Samburu

Depart in the morning for the open savannah Samburu Game Reserve to arrive there in time for the afternoon game drive in the park. Elephants abound; you may see lion, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, grevy’s zebra and Oryx. Dinner and overnight at a camp.

Day 5 – Samburu

Enjoy a full day of game viewing along the river banks and surrounding scrublands with time out from the midday sun for a refreshing swim at Buffalo Springs. This is a particularly good place to spot elephant and antelope.

Day 6- Lake Baringo

Leaving Samburu, cross the Lerochi Plateau and descend to the floor of the Great Rift Valley, arriving at Lake Baringo by early afternoon. This fresh water lake supports an abundance of birdlife alongside hippos and crocodiles that languish on the lake shore.

Day 7 – Lake Baringo/Nakuru via Lake Bogoria

A short drive (30km) south to Lake Bogoria, a shallow soda lake set amidst beautiful scenery. Like the other Kenyan soda lakes, it has no outlet and the intense evaporation leads to high levels of salt and minerals, which flamingos love and from a distance the surface of the water appears bright pink. Next to the lake are steaming hot springs and geysers, but don’t be tempted to put your hands into the water if you are at all fond of your skin! Continue south to Lake Nakuru National Park, another shallow soda lake famous for its birdlife, and the park is also home to lion, many rhino and if you’re very lucky you may spot a leopard in an Acacia tree. Overnight at a campsite.

Day 8 – Maasai Mara

We head south to Narok, Lunch enroute then proceed to Maasai Mara -game is viewed as we proceed to the campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 9 and 10 – Maasai Mara

Travel south through the beautiful savannahs and plains of the Rift Valley and reach our base camp site, where we enjoy another evening out bush under the far-reaching African sky. Spend the next day on game drives exploring the Masai Mara. The open grasslands are home to incredibly rich and varied wildlife and the awesome, annual migration of millions of wildebeest and antelope is the highlight of any visit to Africa from July to September.

Day 11- Maasai Mara/Nairobi

Heading north to Narok, we stop to browse in the bustling, vibrant Masai markets to buy curios and handicrafts before continuing to Nairobi where our safari ends.
